We want your child to have a positive dental experience. Please arrive on time for your appointment. All appointments are scheduled for the amount of time necessary to make your child comfortable and accomplish necessary treatment. Should you arrive 10 minutes past your scheduled appointment time, you may be asked to reschedule. We understand situations may arise which require that you miss a scheduled appointment. Kindly give 24 hours notice so if possible, we can use your reserved time for another child in need of seeing
Dr. Sherman. A missed appointment fee of $60 may be charged to your account if prior notice is not given. All accounts with this charge will need to be paid in full before scheduling future appointments.

Click on a question!
What should I bring to my first visit?
Dr. Sherman and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends a child’s first visit be completed by their first birthday.
On your first visit to our office, please bring your insurance card and have our First Visit Packet already completed. If you do not bring it with you, please come 15 minutes early so that we can see your child on time.
Your insurance determines your coverage. Any amount not covered by your insurance will be due that day.
Do you accept insurance?
We accept many insurance plans and as a courtesy, we will submit your insurance claim for you. The portion that is not covered by the insurance company is your responsibility and due at the time of service. If payment is not met in full at time of services, then a statement will be sent to you and will reflect a service fee.
It is a benefit to you to know and understand what your insurance benefits are, including deductibles and co-pays. Regrettably, we do not dictate insurance policies and can only work with them. We will make every effort to help you understand what your coverages are.
What can I expect to pay for my child’s visit?
We would be happy to discuss fees and insurance with parents prior to the first visit in our office.
Our receptionists will discuss this with you, and answer any questions you may have prior to making your first appointment.
My child may be nervous. How can you help?
It is quite normal for children to be anxious about their first visit to the dentist. Pediatric dentists have special training in helping anxious children feel secure during treatment. Also, pediatric dental offices are designed to make children feel comfortable. Dr. Sherman and her staff will do their best to make your child comfortable. Feel free to let your child bring their favorite comfort toy or blanket. Staff members choose to work in our pediatric dental practice because they enjoy working with children.
We have several children and scheduling is important to us. Do you run on time, and will you see all my children at once?
Seeing several children in one family at the same time is never a problem for our staff. We know that our parents have busy schedules, and we do our best to stay on schedule at all times.
Pediatric Dentistry
Why Choose a Pediatric Dentist?
Pediatric Dentistry is the dental specialty recognized by the American Dental Association which encompasses comprehensive dental care for all children, from infancy through adolescence.
A children’s dental specialist is a practitioner who, after becoming a general dentist (often called a family dentist), has completed an additional two years of post-doctoral training in the recognition and treatment of children’s dental and orthodontic problems. Specialty education includes child psychology, behavior guidance, preventive techniques, restorative dentistry, interceptive and comprehensive orthodontic care (braces), and the treatment of children with special needs.
A thorough exam will be done to evaluate the health of your child's teeth, gums and mouth.
We will evaluate your child's growth and development and check to make sure your child's oral development is on track. Our office will make child specific recommendations for the need of sealants, fluoride and other services based on your child's individual needs and habits.
Our doctors are trained to evaluate proper positioning of teeth and jaw structures, checking for the influence of any habits your child may have.
We strive to make each visit fun, educational and memorable.

Special Healthcare Needs
If your child has special healthcare needs, feel great knowing his/her dental needs are not necessarily any different than those of any other child. The difference is how your child’s dental care is delivered based upon their specific needs.
A child with special needs is defined as having a development or acquired physical, mental, development, sensory, behavioral, cognitive, and/or emotional impairment that necessitates medical management, some kind of health care intervention, and/or use of specialized services or programs. This could include asthma, autism spectrum disorders, Down syndrome, and many others. If your child has special health care needs, trust that Dr. Sherman will review your child’s condition and custom tailor the delivery of care to fit your child’s specific needs. Before your appointment, kindly call us to provide us with specific details of your child’s condition (whatever information you can provide would be helpful).
Dr. Sherman will work closely with your child’s medical doctor to ensure their dental health plan is part of their overall health plan. Rest easy knowing our team is well prepared for your child’s visit.

Dr. Sherman and her staff are amazing! They made my very dental phobic child feel calm, comfortable and at ease. They thoroughly explained everything they were doing, took their time and made every effort to ensure that my daughter had a positive experience. Highly recommended!

Dr. Sherman was great with my son. He is almost 3, and we visited her office for the first time because he had a bike accident. This was his first dentist visit and she was very patient and made us both feel comfortable. She talked to him about his blanket, let him sit in my lap, and let him touch the mirror tool so he would not be afraid. She told him he was doing a good job, which I think helped a lot. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a pediatric dentist.
